Not All Cooking Fuel is the Same
Here's a list of all the different fuels you might need depending on your cooking stove. Each one is different so make sure you have the right fuel for your stove. Please remember we DO NOT SHIP FUEL as it is against shipping regulations.
IsoButane
Isobutane is an 80/20 blend of isobutane and propane. This clean-burning formulation maintains higher internal pressure at lower temperatures. Compatible with Jetboil and most other backpacking backpacking stoves
Propane
Propane is the most common fuel used in 2 burner camp stoves. However, this leads to a lot of empty cylinders in the landfill. This is why we prefer to use Little Camper's reusable propane tanks. It's easy to swap out and refill anytime.
Butane
Butane is great for single burner stoves that are designed to travel. This high perfomance fuel leaves no residue, has a pressure release venting system, and is really light and durable weighing in at 8oz per can.
White Gas
Used in liquid fuel stoves, white gas is ideal for really cold temperatures, travelling internationally, and larger groups. The stoves can be a little trickier to use, but it can be the best stove in the right situation.
What else can you burn?
While not always ideal, here are some other options for cooking fuel that you might want to consider depending on your next adventure.
Wood
Stoves like the Biolite CampStove 2+ not only burn wood for cooking, but this stove takes the heat and converts it to electricity to charge your phone.
Solid Fuel
No smell, smoke, ash, or residue, this nontoxic fuel source has a 12 minute burn time and can be used on its own or to start a campfire.
Alcohol
Not just for drinking, alcohol stoves are light and you can even make your own. However, they can be tough to use and have slow cooking times.
Whatever Burns
The MSR Universal stove can burn almost any type of liquid gas including kerosene, deisel (gross), unleaded gasoline and even jet fuel.
